So what can I make up for you?

I truly enjoy working with musicians and coming up with something that is so uniquely who they are that their playing actually is better becuse of it!  Have a look at the other cabinets on the For Sale and Sold pages.  Let them be a palette for creating ideas for your own custom cabinet!

Or maybe you already have the prized cabinet but want a different look. I have recovered a number of amps and cabinets for people and have requests to do this often.

Cabinet 001 - $425 loaded

The cabinet is solid spruce which was reclaimed locally. All the fabrics were from junk stores in town. Check out the pattern on the velour!!! The leather is from a briefcase purchased at the junk store. This one has sat in our living room since August 2011. I knew I was on to something when my wife Janice didn't want me to put it in the garage!! "It looks good in the living room!"

Each cabinet gets an info sheet telling about the construction and bits installed.  001 got a WGS ET65. These are a great sounding speaker modeled after the Celestion G12-65. All the speakers that I install go through my Speaker Spa!! It is a process that helps break in the speaker to get it to it's best sound as soon as possible.

001 comes with the option of going with either open back configuration or closed back configuration.

Cabinet 002 - $445 loaded

The cabinet is solid poplar which was reclaimed locally. I love the pattern on the grill cover. I think it was a cloth napkin! The solid poplar construction gives it a nice warm thunk! The tweed was a left over from another project I had worked on and I really liked the way it looked with the leather. The leather accents are all hand made from bits from the leather briefcases I found at junk stores. This handle is a hard one to let go of! I actually hesitated before putting it on the cabinet, but it looked so good!

Each cabinet gets an info sheet telling about the construction and bits installed.  002 got a Celestion Vintage 30. Classic sounding speaker with just the right amount of high end sparkle.  All the speakers that I install go through my Speaker Spa!! It is a process that helps break in the speaker to get it to it's best sound as soon as possible.

002 comes with the option of going with either open back configuration or closed back configuration.

Cabinet 004 - $375 - unloaded

I had a weird moment where my thoughts went "I wonder what it would look like if I..." So here iit is... INTRODUCING....SLANT BOY!!! This cabinet was so much fun to build that I had to put a name to it. Who knows but it may become a series!

This one is all poplar sides and back with a spruce speaker frame. The legs are all original fromt he '70s and were purly cosmetic but do put a nice seperation between the cabinet and the floor which reduces ugly rumble keeping the sound sharp and clean. No speaker is in it which leaves the buyer the opportunity to put in whatever they desire.

004 will of course comes with the option of going with either open back configuration or closed back configuration.

Don't get me wrong!

I love old Marshall cabinets and nothing looks as classy as a good Fender combo. And toughness? You just don't get tougher than a Mesa! But personally I find they all lack one thing: that piece that screams 'One of a kind!'

Out of a need to be able to crank up my favorite non-master amps, I built a 1x12 cabinet that I could stuff under the stage in an isolation box and not deafen everybody around me. The problem was it ended up looking a little too good and my brain started spinning! "What if I used that ugly pillow cover I found at the junk store..." So as you see below I have had a bunch of fun building one-of-a-kind speaker cabinets and recovered a few amp heads.

All the cabinets I build are solid woods, re-claimed locally where ever possible. The same applies to fabrics and hardware. Only where I have no other choice do I go out and buy stuff new.

I truly enjoy building art with stories already built in!!

Or maybe you already have the prized cabinet but want a different look. I have recovered a number of amps and cabinets for people and have requests coming to me more and more to do this. I must admit I have a few of my own amps that are lined up to have this done once I have a bit more time... lol!

Take a good look in the "For Sale" page to see if anything I have in stock fits your fancy. On the "Sold" page I show some that have been done before to tweak your thought process, and then if you want to buy one check out the "Order" page. I am open to work with any ideas and see your crazy plans come to fruition!

So here are the ones that got away!!

Here is a brief history of cabinets that have already sold. Use this as a palette for coming up with your own ideas for your custom cabinet!

Cabinet 000 - The Original

This was the one that got me started with building speaker cabinets. I built this one for myself to stuff under the stage at the church. It sits in a mic'd isolation box and I can crank my tube heads to that lovely sound without torching the stage volume. The tweed was left-overs from other projects and I used a fabric napkin for the speaker face!!

I love this logo!! It is off a furnace from a church in Campbell River. We were replacing the furnaces and before they hit the scrap heap I grabbed the logos! I originally had thought of calling my company Airco but that did not have a guitar ring to it! But I guess you can see where I got the GuitarArt and Klassen logo ideas from!!

I went with 2 back panels so you can have either open or closed back.

Cabinet 005 - $375 - unloaded - SOLD!

A great friend of mine, Matt Sanderson, gave me some panels and wood from a piano that he was dismantling. So started the next installment of "What Can i Build With This?"!!

Under all the walnut veneer is a nicely aged and music saturated poplar!! (What!?! Cost saving in an antique piano!! Shock of all shocks!) Using the brand new dovetail jig I had purchased, I went with dovetail joints that worked out very well in my eyes. Strong and solid! More cabinets with dovetails to come...

Unloaded at his point but 005 will of course comes with the option of going with either open back configuration or closed back configuration.

Cabinet 003 - $575 loaded - SOLD!

This cabinet is SOLID MAPLE!! It too was reclaimed locally. To tame some of the brightness I went with a poplar back and it worked great! In a moment of shear lunacy I decided to go diagonal with the fabric on the front. Was a lot of figuring and extra work but I am very pleased with the result. Then to pretty it up I went with real leather handles and 'aged' hardware. The fancy buckles on the front were the 'paz de la resistance'!!

Each cabinet gets an info sheet telling about the construction and bits installed.  003 is loaded with a Celestion Vintage 30 and a Celestion G12 M Greenback (one of my favs) The cabinet sounds great wound right out. Both speakers went through my Speaker Spa! It is a process that helps break in the speakers to get them to their best sound as soon as possible.

003 of course comes with the option of going with either open back configuration or closed back configuration.

This cabinet was sold to Chris, a great guy in Coquitlam! Let it rumble!

Cabinet 007 - 1x12 Isolation Cab

Necessity is the mother of invention! No more then in this case! I love my old tube heads opened up and load, but we all know that does not work in many playing situations. So after a visit to Act 1 music in Langley I was inspired to take a stab at an Iso Cab.

I looked a few cabs and built this off of dimensions that I felt would have the best characteristics I wanted. The biggest complaint against Iso Cabs is a boxy sound. So I opened this one up a bit, slightly larger then most cabs out there. Because this one is going to spend most of it's time in one place I went with decorative exterior vs. durable. But it does look good up close!

Details: 11ply Birch Plywood, Angled speaker baffle to reduce standing waves, Acoustic insulation wrapped in fabric, Permanent mounted goose neck/mic clip with external plugin, External speaker plugin, Celestion Gold speaker.

Cabinet 008 - Piano Tall - $475 - SOLD!

A great friend of mine, Matt Sanderson, gave me some panels and wood from a piano that he was dismantling. This is the second (and last!) cab to be built using these panels. Similar to the other cab I built with this wood, except that I added 2" to the heaight to give it a little different look.

Under all the walnut veneer is a nicely aged and music saturated poplar!! (What!?! Cost saving in an antique piano!! Shock of all shocks!) This one has dovetail joints for the top. Strong and solid! The top on this cab has book-matched walnut veneer that really stands out with the finishing. I have not put a handle on yet because I think the owner might agree that the top is too nice to muck up with a handle!

008 got a Celestion Vintage 30. Classic sounding speaker with just the right amount of high end sparkle. This cab also comes with the option of going with either open back configuration or closed back configuration.

Beautiful cabinet if I say so myself!
